Thoughtful Leadership Over Bullying: The Real Power Move

I have worked for and with organizations with leaders—on staff and/or on the board—who were kind and thoughtful. I found energy, joy and creativity in working with these individuals.  I learned and grew and gave everything to assure the organization succeeded.

The, there were the “bosses’ who managed by intimidation, fear, demeaning others and just plain bullying.  I still worked hard but I doubt that I was my most creative.  I kept my eyes open for ways to exit the organization.

We live in a fast-paced, competitive world and nearly every organization depends on team members willing to do their best. But are these businesses creating an environment for growth and success?

Leadership isn’t about demanding respect—it’s about earning it. True leaders uplift, inspire, and empower rather than intimidate or control.

🔹 A bully boss leads through fear, creating a toxic environment where staff feel undervalued and disengaged.

🔹 A thoughtful leader fosters trust, listens actively, and leads with empathy—driving innovation, loyalty, and long-term success.

People don’t follow titles; they follow those who make them feel seen, heard, and valued. The best teams don’t work for a leader; they work with one.

Let’s commit to leading with intention, respect, and integrity—because real leadership is measured by the impact we have on others.
